Charlie Robertson (2005) is a talented and upcoming Dutch (mid-)distance runner. She is interested in attending a school with a strong athletic and academic program starting in the Fall of 2025.
Charlie Robertson is a Dutch middle-distance runner with a proven track record and significant potential. At just 18 years old, Charlie’s hard work and talent have already led to impressive achievements. Most recently, she placed second in both the 3000m and 1500m at the 2024 U20 Indoor National Championships and won the prestigious CPC Road Race in The Hague with a time of 17:59.

Charlie’s journey is just beginning, and her recent improvements suggest there is much more to come. She is committed to breaking the 4:10 barrier in the 1500m and aspires to represent her college track team with pride, with the ultimate goal of competing at international competitions like the European and World Championships. With her famous Dutch determination and courage, Charlie is ready to take her athletics career to the next level, offering a huge potential for the right coach to unlock. Beyond her individual successes, Charlie is a positive, social, and popular member of the Haag Atletiek team. Her healthy mindset and strong interpersonal skills make her a valued teammate, and she consistently contributes to a positive team environment.
Athletic Background
Charlie’s athletic journey began with a wide variety of sports, including tennis, basketball, touch rugby, mountain climbing, triathlons, and cross-country. It was during middle school at the American School in Doha, Qatar, that she discovered her talent for running, winning every race she entered. This experience not only revealed her athletic potential but also sparked her determination to pursue higher education in the American school system.
At the age of 12, Charlie began competing in field hockey and track, but after three years of juggling both, she made the pivotal decision to focus solely on track and field with her club team, Haag Atletiek. This decision marked a turning point in her athletic career, setting her on a path of focused training and significant achievements.
While Charlie has faced typical growth-related injuries during puberty, she has emerged more resilient and determined than ever. Her physical and emotional maturity now fully developed, Charlie’s passion for athletics has been reignited, and her recent performances demonstrate significant potential for future growth and success.
Academics
Academics are as important to Charlie as her athletic pursuits. Currently enrolled in the highest level of high school (VWO) in The Netherlands, she has excelled academically, receiving a certificate from the University of Leiden for completing pre-university classes in Life Sciences & Technology. Charlie’s interests span biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, and human anatomy. She has participated in significant extracurricular activities such as Model United Nations (MUN) conferences and the Eco-team at her high school. Her English proficiency is at a native level, thanks to her time spent abroad and her English-speaking mother.
Charlie is currently enrolled in the highest level of high school (VWO) in The Netherlands. Academics are important to her and she would like to enroll in a challenging academic program. She is interested in various study areas such as biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics and human anatomy. Her command of English is at a native level due to her time spent abroad and her English speaking mother.
