Rosalie ten Bruggencate represents AV Hera in competitions and trains with AV Lycurgus. As a Junior B1 (1st year under 18), she shows strong determination and resilience.
Rosalie credits her success to never giving up and always finishing her trainings and races, even without a personal best. She rarely gets injured, highlighting her disciplined training approach. Despite being a bit perfectionistic, which sometimes makes team dynamics tough, she works on balancing her high standards with being a team player. Her goals include improving her PBs and gaining more experience at higher levels, while also finding more time for training amidst school commitments.

Rosalie, standing at 171 cm and weighing 50 kg, has notable achievements, especially in the 2000m steeplechase. She won first place at the Dutch National Championship U18 in 2023 while still in the U16 category. She ranked 16th globally and 10th in Europe for the 2000m steeplechase in 2023 and is currently 6th in the world for 2024. She also qualified for the 2024 European Championship U18 and earned a bronze medal in the 1500m at the National Championship Indoor in 2024. At the outdoor national championships in 2024, she prolonged her national title at the 2000m steeplechase. She came in second at the 3000m for U18 girls.
Starting athletics at age 6, Rosalie competed in long jump, shot put, hurdles, and middle distances. Her first major medal was at the National Championship U14 in the 1000m, where she placed third by running her own race. At 13, she debuted at the National Championships U18, almost reaching the finals in the 800m.
Despite facing an eating disorder triggered by a disappointing performance in 2022, Rosalie won gold in the 2000m steeplechase at the Dutch Championships U18 in 2023. After a recovery period in 2023, she made a strong comeback, achieving PBs and a bronze medal at the National Championship Indoor U18 in 2024. Rosalie also enjoys cross country and placed third at the Cross Country Championship in 2023. She remains motivated to improve and believes she has much more to achieve in her athletic career.
Rosalie will graduate high school in June 2026 at the highest level of education in the Netherlands. She attends bilingual education and holds a Cambridge certificate (CAE), demonstrating advanced English skills, which prepares her well for her time in the US. She is mostly interested in a major in nutrition, dietetics or sports.
