Wendy Tijmstra

Wendy Tijmstra (2008) is an accomplished track and field athlete representing AV Hylas Alkmaar. She focusses on sprinting, javelin, jumping and hurdling events. She has participated in multiple national championships and international competitions, where she ended on the podium several times. Wendy is eager to join a U.S. collegiate track and field program in Fall 2025, together with her twin sister Amy.

About Wendy Tijmstra

Wendy’s athletic strengths lie in her powerful starts and strong leg muscles, which help her explode out of the blocks. While sprinting is her main area of expertise, she is also developing her hurdling technique. Wendy is looking to improve her self-confidence and daring on the track, as encouraged by her coach. She is also passionate about competing in team events and is excited about the collaborative atmosphere in American collegiate sports.


Wendy has remained dedicated to her home team, AV Hylas, where she has perfected her skills in sprints, hurdles, high jump, and javelin. Her career highlights include a 2nd place finish in the 4x100m relay at the International Children’s Games in Coventry, a bronze medal in the 80m at the NK U16, and a strong performance in the Swedish relay at the NK Relay Championships. In 2024, she participated at the National Championships relay, which resulted in a bronze medal on the 4x100m, Gold on the 4x 200m and Gold on the Swedish Relay. Recently, she joined a new training group focused on competitive performance, allowing her to advance her skills in a more professional environment.

Wendy looks forward to being part of a college program in the U.S. She specifically likes the element of competing with her team and bringing out the best in herself and her teammates every day. She hopes to find a school with her twin sister Amy.
