Sports: Men’s Track & Field
Entry semester: Fall 2023
18-year-old Daan Moelands is from Etten-Leur and played tennis before he started track & field. At the age of 12 he started track & field but after two years he had outgrown his club and was looking for a bigger challenge. Joined DJA Zundert he got everything he wanted, the training got a lot tougher, the team spirit was very high and it changed Daan positively as a person and as an athlete. However, at the age of 16 Daan made the switch to AV Sprint, the biggest track & field club in the Netherlands. Since his transfer to AV Sprint, Daan has made a lot of progression, both mentally and physically.
Daan is a super social boy who easily connects with people, he finds it important to make other people happy and is a real family man. He has a super strong bond with his brother who lives in Rotterdam and therefore mentions that he and his brother can really talk about everything. As an athlete, Daan is a go-getter who always gives 100% for his team. He is very eager to learn and is always willing to learn new things. In addition, team spirit is very high on his mind, a trait that is super important in America.
Career wise Daan is now working as an assistant teacher at a high school, his main focus is making school a nice place for everyone and making sure every student enjoys going to school and experiences it as a nice environment.
In the USA, Daan would like to develop himself as a person and practice track & field at the highest level, he is willing to give up everything for it in order to reach the top. His ultimate dream is to become one of the best decathlon athletes in the world and reach the Olympics.
