This month in our University Spotlight, we are highlighting The University of Mount Olive. A private school with a diverse student population of 3,800 students from 30 states and 27 countries.

Sports
The University of Mount Olive competes in Division II, Conference Carolinas, with baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field, field field hockey, volleyball and even wrestling.
Mount Olive has won a couple awards already! For example, they have won the national championship three times with the men’s volleyball team and have been conference champion eight times!
Some of our own Slamstox toppers can also be found here. Maud van Duin and Annefleur Moerkerken are strengthening the field hockey team & Bram Poel is a part of the tennis team together with Adam Khaled!
The athletes of Mount Olive are also called Trojans, they are named after the mascot. This is namely, hang on…a Trojan! The Trojan is depicted as an ancient warrior, dressed in the armor and weapons of a Trojan.
The Campus
The campus is located in the town of Mount Olive, North Carolina. Mount Olive is a small town with some stores, restaurants, in a green area with some parks here and there. A short distance away you have the slightly larger towns; Goldsboro, Kinston and Releigh that offer even more activities. A 20-minute drive from campus brings you to Neuse State Park, a nature preserve where you can swim, cliff dive and fish, and much more.
The university is smaller than the average university in America. It has many modern facilities and is constantly upgrading the campus infrastructure. They have modern housing facilities for students and if you get hungry there are several restaurants such as a coffee shop, a Starbucks and a Chick-fil-A. Mount Olive has numerous sports fields, tennis courts and a fitness center for students.

Study
Mount Olive recently switched from a 2-year program to a 4-year program. It is a private school where 3,800 students are currently enrolled. The many international students will mainly be found in the sports teams. Students are also given the choice to join study clubs to gain additional experience. Students are satisfied with the teachers and with the school buildings that are easily walkable. Below is a list of the most popular majors at Mount Olive:
