Living the California dream! Guus Koevermans has arrived for his adventure in San Diego to study and play tennis for the University of San Diego.
Guus has always been one of the best ranked junior players in the Netherlands, and after obtaining his HAVO diploma, he played tennis full-time and internationally for a year. Earlier this year, Guus decided to combine his tennis career with a study in America and, together with Peter Lucassen and Pedro Mol of Slamstox, he went in search of the team and the school that suits him best!
Partly due to good tournament results, there was a lot of interest for Guus and in the end Coach Ryan Keckley from San Diego and his tennis team turned out to be the best match. After a good process in which Guus had to achieve good academic test results in order to be admitted to the university, it is now time to put the “Toreros” further on the map together with his new teammates. In the coming school semester, they will also travel with the team to several future tournaments to collect points for the ATP ranking. A nice combo of professional tennis and college tennis!
San Diego has been voted one of the most beautiful and livable cities in America several times, so you’re in a good place! Most avocados in America are also produced in San Diego, so enough quacamole for you!
Guus, we thought it was cool to work with you in recent months. We wish you the best of luck and are convinced that you will have four fantastic years that you will never forget. Make sure you enjoy every day and get the best out of it! We will definitely continue to follow you! Go Toreros!
