Christmas season. A time of rest for the Slamstox community. In America, schools are closed for a while and our Student-Athletes are celebrating vacations with their families and/or friends. For me, this is always a good time to reflect on the accomplishments of our community over the past year. A year in which the Slamstox Community managed to put itself even further on the map. A year in which we experienced some great things with our student-athletes. “Just” another year to be proud of! Next year will be the 10th year of Slamstox. Time flies. Yet it feels like we have only just begun, with big plans ahead.
A year for the record books!
Being a Student-Athlete is special and requires effort, discipline and dedication. As a Student-Athlete you are constantly working on getting the most out of your career on an athletic, academic and personal level. That is precisely why we at Slamstox love working with this group of motivated talents. For Student-Athletes, by Student-Athletes. Each Student-Athlete creates his or her own story. A Student-Athlete steps out of their comfort zone. A Student-Athlete continues where others stop. And as a result, a Student-Athlete accomplishes things that seemed impossible beforehand. They have proven it over and over again!
In 2023, the Slamstox community demonstrated just that again: it was a record-breaking year in more ways than one. And we are incredibly proud of that!
Some of the 2023 highlights:
- A record number of nearly 250 student-athletes managed to secure scholarships this year, totaling over $30 million!
- The Slamstox community now consists of student-athletes in 28 different sports, from as many as 24 different countries, active in 49 different states in America!
- More than 80 universities came to the Netherlands this year to scout at our competition days, events and showcases.
- 84 Student-Athletes became conference champions this year and got to represent their university at the National Championships of America.
- This year, more than 20 Dutch Championships were won by Slamstox student-athletes in tennis, track & field, swimming, field hockey, and more!
- A record seven student-athletes started as professional athletes after graduation
- Multiple student-athletes have found their dream jobs through the Slamstox After College program.
- We expanded our office space in SX with a very cool “Wall of Fame” to showcase the top accomplishments of our student-athletes!
- This year we have expanded our team with 5 new employees, both in the Netherlands and America, with which we can guide our student-athletes even better.

New services
New services Innovation is one of the important core values of Slamstox. We feel it is important to constantly innovate and develop in order to provide the best possible guidance to our Student-Athletes. This year we have added some great options, such as Sports & Studies in Europe, and partnerships with Boarding Schools in America. We have also added new companies to our After College program and started management work for our Student-Athletes who play their sports professionally. As you know by now, Student-Athletes are at the heart of all our activities and we do everything we can to make their mission a success: Unlocking their full potential!
What’s next?
Slamstox wouldn’t be Slamstox if we weren’t already working on plans for 2024 and beyond. One of the highlights in 2024 will undoubtedly be the Paris Olympics, in which at least three of our Student-Athletes are expected to compete.
A tremendous amount of hard work has been done by the community to ensure maximum performance again this coming year, both athletically and academically. Within Slamstox there are also some great plans ready to roll out in 2024 and it is time for a mega party: Slamstox exists 10 years in 2024! More info coming soon…..!
