The national tennis federation of Aruba, Tennis Aruba, and Slamstox are partnering to raise the level of tennis in Aruba and provide Aruban tennis talents with a great opportunity to join a college tennis program in the United States.
Tennis Aruba sees college tennis as the perfect way for players to further develop. By combining academics and tennis in the U.S., Aruban tennis talents get the unique chance to maximize their potential in tennis, pursue a university degree, and at the same time embark on the adventure of a lifetime!
For Tennis Aruba, this partnership with Slamstox offers the perfect guidance for players heading towards college tennis in the U.S. We keep the federation updated throughout the process and inform them about the players’ progress once they are in the U.S. From there, players can work towards entering the professional circuit and potentially qualify for Aruba’s official Davis Cup team.
Through this partnership, Slamstox receives optimal support during the recruiting process of the players. Tennis Aruba tracks the players’ progress, creates video footage of their training and matches, and organizes tournaments and competitions where Aruban players can continue improving their match level and ratings.
For Slamstox, this partnership is a fantastic opportunity to expand its tennis network in South America and contribute to the development of tennis in Aruba. For American college coaches, this collaboration provides the chance to discover more talent, not only from Europe but now also from Aruba. Additionally, Aruban tennis players are accustomed to playing outdoors and on hard courts year-round, making the transition to college tennis smoother.
Franz Sydow, president of Tennis Aruba, is very excited about the partnership: “We are thrilled to have Slamstox as our new partner. Their extensive experience in guiding players to college sports is incredibly valuable. I played college tennis myself at College of Charleston (D1), and I know how important this step is. I am confident that we can further put tennis on the map in Aruba.”
Our CEO, Pedro Mol, shares this enthusiasm: “It’s fantastic that we have the opportunity to work with Tennis Aruba. In recent years, several Aruban tennis talents have participated in our Tennis Showcase, and we’ve visited the national training center of Aruba. One of the Aruban players even received a wildcard for the qualifying tournament of the Amjoy Cup! With this partnership, we hope to contribute to the further development of Aruban talents who want to get the most out of their tennis and academic careers. Franz knows better than anyone how college tennis in America works, and his vision for the tennis federation in Aruba aligns perfectly with our approach to developing tennis players!”
In the Netherlands, combining studies and sports is quite challenging, but in the U.S., it’s perfectly integrated as you represent your school’s team. Sometimes tennis players think they’re giving up their professional career by going to the U.S., but nothing could be further from the truth. The guidance and facilities are highly professional, giving players like Ben Shelton and Cameron Norrie a head start in their careers. Currently, there are even 14 college players ranked in the ATP top 100.
Tennis in America isn’t just for top players. There are opportunities for every level of tennis. Curious about your options in the U.S.? Contact us!
