A basketball talent with big ambitions
Evan van der Plas started playing basketball at a young age and his talent was soon recognized. He was selected for the national team and played for such renowned teams as Heroes Den Bosch and Triple Threat. That he was able to secure an NCAA Division 1 Scholarship at 18 from the Netherlands is a special achievement.
The dream of the NCAA and the NBA
Evan’s goal has always been clear: play at the highest NCAA D1 level, get as many minutes as possible and eventually advance to the NBA. He is determined and works extremely hard every day to make this dream come true. The intensity of training and competing in the USA is new to him, but he is making great strides and improving both physically and mentally.
Journey to Canisius College
Slamstox guided Evan through the complicated paperwork and different college options available to him. In the end, Canisius College turned out to be the perfect choice for him. By applying for a special waiver with the NCAA, Evan was able to immediately apply for eligibility and his scholarship was confirmed.
A promising future
Although the intensity of training and competitions took getting used to for Evan, he is adapting quickly and getting stronger physically. His potential is enormous, and we are sure we will hear a lot from him in the future.
Evan’s determination and talent make him a player to keep an eye on, and we at Slamstox are immensely proud of his accomplishments!
