Becoming a pediatrician and Olympic champion, two goals Shantell Kwofie has set for herself. Making a choice is not an option for her, in that respect she does it just like Epke Zonderland: ‘just’ both.

The 15-year-old hept athlete excels both academically and athletically, she is now in the highest level of high school and wants to complete all her subjects between 7 and 10. In addition, in February 2020 (as a 14-year-old!) she became Dutch Champion U18 in the 400 meters. She is currently able to combine her sports and studies at the LOOT school of the Calandlyceum in Amsterdam.

Shantell is aware that continuing to excel in both areas is difficult in the Netherlands and therefore wants to start her career as a student-athlete in America from the summer of 2023. She thus follows the same route as her idol, Allyson Felix, who after her time as a student-athlete at USC became 3 times Olympic champion and 6 times world champion.

A few weeks ago, Shantell came to our office and we did an interview with her. She told us about her favorite part of the heptathlon her best sporting moment so far, what she is looking for in her future American university and much more…

Her mother also talks about her drive, focus and determination. Did you know that Shantell also plays the piano and has a black belt in taekwondo? Check out the interview below!
