Sports: Field Hockey 16-year-old Myrthe Nienhuis lives with her little brother and parents in Voorschoten. It is not surprising that Myrthe started playing sports fanatically, as her father played badminton at a high level and her mother played hockey at the highest level in the Netherlands. Because of her mother, she started playing field hockey at the age of five, since then, she has always been in the selection. At fifteen, Myrthe made her debut at the highest level of her club, Forescate. Here she practices and still competes with great pleasure.

What makes Myrthe special as a person is that she is always beaming, her smile is impossible to get rid of. Once she feels comfortable she likes to talk to people and make them laugh. She wants everyone to feel good and is there for everyone.

As a player, Myrthe is very technical and has a good understanding of the field. She plays as a midfielder and often sees the spaces around her which allows her to direct people and make beautiful passes. In America, Myrthe wants to develop personally by becoming more independent, looking for boundaries and getting to know herself. She also wants to do her best at school and improve her English.

“I’m a real playmaker. I keep the pace and can play offensively.”

Myrthe Nienhuis

Would you like to see more about Myrthe?
